Laboratory Investigation on Pavement Performance of Basalt Fiber-Reinforced Asphalt Mixture Under the Coupling Effect of Freeze-Thaw Cycles and Aging

Due to the significant temperature difference and high solar radiation in high-altitude areas, asphalt pavement has been freeze-thaw cycles service conditions for a long time, resulting shorter life. To extend life of this study uses basalt fiber toughen mixture, characteristics under coupled effects aging were evaluated. First, cycles, content selected as independent variables conduct Box–Behnken design (BBD) test design. Consequently, corresponding response surface model was established. Based on rutting test, three-point bending indirect tensile optimum obtained. Finally, fatigue properties mixture by four-point compared content. The results showed consequences will reduce road give rise damage asphalt; among them, strength decreased 21.7% at most (the number from 10 30). Aging but its dynamic stability, flexural strength, slitting be enhanced certain extent; stability can improved up 28.1% (aging 4 12 h). Basalt increase spitting strength; is 0.35% mixtures.
